With 89 Covid-19 related patents published between 2002 and 2022, Chinese Academy of Sciences holds the most number of Covid-19 patents in the Asia-Pacific region, of which 22.5% was contributed by its subsidiary Institute of Pathogen Biology.
The second largest number of Covid-19 related patents were published by Sun Yat-sen University with 55 patents. The third largest number of Covid-19 related patents were published by Tsinghua University with 42 patents. The fourth largest number of Covid-19 related patents were published by FUDAN University with 41 patents. The fifth largest number of Covid-19 related patents were published by Uni-President China Holdings Ltd with 37 patents, of which 67.6% was contributed by its subsidiary Wuhan University.
The top five patent holders, i.e., Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, FUDAN University, and Uni-President China Holdings Ltd, together held 264 Covid-19 patents during the period.
