A total of 348 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Technology, Media and Telecom of Australia, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $17,698.0 million. In the LTM period, June 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $5,903.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $164.0 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of March 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 37 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $13.0 million during that month.
Of the 348 deals, the deal secured between Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets Holdings Pty Limited; Public Sector Pension Investment Board and Uniti Group Ltd, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Australia Technology, Media and Telecom sector, which was valued at $2,541.6 million and was completed on January 24, 2022. The second-largest deal was between EQT Group and IRESS Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Alberta Investment Management Corp; Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and BAI Communications Pty Ltd. The EQT Group-IRESS Ltd deal and the Alberta Investment Management Corp; Canada Pension Plan Investment Board-BAI Communications Pty Ltd deal were valued at $2,350.0 million and $1,951.3 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between BGH Capital Pty Ltd-Hansen Technologies Ltd valued at $1,005.5 million, whereas the deal between Aware Super Pty Ltd; Potentia Capital Pty Ltd; TPG Global, LLC-Smartgroup Corporation Ltd valued at $1,003.1 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $8,851.5 million and accounted for nearly 50.01% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
