Fuel Cards in Eastern European Markets
Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia
Less than 15% of commercial fleets in Eastern Europe have fuel cards. Demand from fleets for fuel cards will rise over the next five years as they try to reduce transport costs. With more than 6.5 million fleets not using fuel cards in this region, card operators should launch fleet cards with large card acceptance networks to boost volumes.
Electric vehicles will change the needs of fleets. Over the next five years the number of electric vehicles in Eastern Europe is expected to increase dramatically with governments banning the sale of fossil fuel vehicles from as early as 2030. To meet the changing needs of Eastern European commercial fleets, operators should create partnerships with the recharging network and install their own EV charging points.
